Our Goal
3SBio adheres to the environmental policy of “people-oriented practices, green operations, safety and legal compliance, and sustainable development.” We integrate the concept of green development into our business operations and the full-lifecycle product management. We actively address climate change and make consistent effort to protect natural resources and the ecological environment while advancing low-carbon, sustainable development.
Our Governance
We have established an environmental governance structure comprising the Board of Directors, the ESG Committee, the ESG Working Group, and the EHS Department. The Board of Directors serves as the supreme supervisory body, the ESG Committee coordinates and advances environmental management initiatives, and the EHS Departments of each subsidiary are responsible for implementation at the operational level. Each production base has formulated policy documents such as the EHS Management Manual, Wastewater Management Policy, Waste Gas Management Policy, Hazardous Waste Management Policy, and Emergency Response Plan for Environmental Incidents. Environmental performance assessments are incorporated into the compensation system for environmental protection management. All China-based production bases that are in stable operation and eligible for certification have obtained ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification. Notably, Sunshine Guojian has been honored with the designation of “National Green Factory.”
Our Actions
Green Energy Transition
3SBio Shenyang purchased 3,500 MWh of green electricity, with clean electricity accounting for 24.31% of the site’s total electricity consumption. 3SBio Guangdong implemented a distributed photovoltaic project, with an estimated annual power generation of 1,041.80 MWh. Sunshine Guojian upgraded its solar streetlights, which reduces annual energy consumption by approximately 90.89 MWh. All production bases have simultaneously advanced waste heat recovery, ice thermal storage systems, energy-efficient lighting upgrades, among other green energy initiatives.
Water Resource Recycling
3SBio Shenyang recycled approximately 15.03 million cubic meters of water, achieving a recycling rate of 99.9%. 3SBio Guangdong recovered concentrated wastewater for garage cleaning and landscape irrigation. Sunshine Guojian implemented a reclaimed water recycling project, saving approximately 28,900 metric tons of water annually.
Emissions and Waste Management
3SBio combines source control with end-of-pipe treatment to implement full-process control of wastewater, exhaust gases, and waste. All types of pollutants are discharged in compliance with established standards. Hazardous and non-hazardous waste is sorted and then handed over to qualified organizations for disposal.
Green Procurement and Packaging
We established an online procurement platform to promote digital procurement; recycled and reused packaging cartons; replaced conventional blister trays with environmentally friendly paper inserts; switched from oil-based to water-based inks for printing; and required cold-chain transportation suppliers to use recyclable insulated containers, with a cumulative total of approximately 24,087 used.
Climate Risk Management
3SBio incorporates climate scenario analysis into routine management mechanisms, to identify major physical risks such as typhoons and water shortages, develop response measures, and continuously enhance climate resilience.
Our Achievements
- Greenhouse gas emission intensity per RMB 10,000 of revenue was 0.0380 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, down 41.54% from the 2017 baseline, exceeding the “20% reduction” target
- Hazardous waste generation intensity per unit of revenue decreased by 56.77% year over year
- Non-hazardous waste generation intensity per unit of revenue decreased 40.44% year over year
- Total energy consumption intensity was 0.0934 MWh per RMB 10,000
